Barbecue Grill San Francisco
Best Barbecue Restaurants

Barbecue Grill San Francisco - San Francisco has many really great barbecue restaurants scattered all over the city. There is lots of competition for the dining out customer so San Francisco's bbq restaurants have to serve good food and that they do. Good barbecue restaurants used to be available only in the southern geographic region of the US. However, like other ethnic food varieties, barbecue cooking has spread to most metropolitan areas across the US. We have searched the US market for the best barbecue restaurants in each geographic metropolitan area. The barbecue restaurants that we have recommended below consist of national and/or regional chains as well as local or independently owned barbecue restaurants. We have tried to include at least one locally owned restaurant in the recommendations. However, in some geographic areas there is not a locally owned barbecue restaurant that we would recommend.

There are very few national chains of barbecue restaurants but there are many regional chains. Normally, if either a national or regional chain restaurant is listed, there will be several locations in the geographic area even though we have only listed one location on this web site. You can check the chain restaurant's web site for other locations in metropolitan area of your choice.

Often, the locally owned barbecue restaurants are located in a remote town from the metropolitan area. However, rest assured, each and every barbecue restaurant listed is worth the trip if you a barbecue lover. Most of these restaurants will also ship their goods - sauces, rubs and barbecued food - via mail which allows you to purchase barbecue products from your favorite restaurants by going to their web site on the internet. So feel free to use the internet and order some bbq in if you visit a good barbecue restaurant on your travels. Barbecue food ships very well and is easy to reheat. It will taste as good as the food you ordered in the restaurant. San Francisco has more than its share of really great bbq restaurants and here are some of our recommendations:

Everett & Jones Barbecue - If you could have one last soul food dinner, you should choose E&J. Opening in 1973, succeeding generations of the family have carried on and spread the 'cue throughout the East Bay. The family specialty is brisket, but you won't be unhappy with the ribs, the potato salad, the sweet-potato pie and the lemonade. The heart of the room is the grill, barbecue smokers and prep area, and a small corner is reserved for a blues combo to play on the weekends. On Friday and Saturday, they serve everyone who arrives by midnight, and soul food fans can always get it to-go. barbecue food San Francisco

Memphis Minnie's Barbeque - Memphis Minnie's Barbeque joint is dedicated to maintaining and celebrating the time honored American tradition of slow smoked southern style BBQ. All of our meats are cooked using the the heat and smoke from burning white oak logs. We use NO GAS and NO ELECTRIC to cook our meats. It just ain't the real way to make real Q. At Minnie's we are all about the food.

Big Nate's - Big Nate'sIt might be easy to drive right past this place, despite the big, bold lettering spelling out Big Nate's on the side of the building, but we wouldn't recommend it. In a town with too few barbecue joints, Big Nate's is one of the best. Inside, two huge brick ovens-smokers house the tender brisket and the faintly smoky chicken. A long, unenthusiastically drab counter begins the ordering process at the door and runs the length of the narrow space. Two or three cafeteria-style tables are relegated to the back corner since this is mostly a take-out business. Most Big Nate's fans can't pass up the Memphis pulled pork sandwich, with its tender cubes of pork swimming in a thick, vinegary sauce (that can be ordered from mild to spicy, as with all the sauces) that gets ladled into a soft, sesame seed bun. Dinners like the dense links and the delicious pork ribs come with a nice, lightly dressed coleslaw or potato sala. barbecue food San Francisco
