Chicken Bacon Wrap Drumsticks

Chicken Bacon Wrapped Drumsticks are a great food to serve. They are absolutely delicious. The small amount of extra preparation time is definitely worth the effort.
Chicken Bacon Wrap Drumsticks The recipe for this chicken bacon wrap drumsticks is described below. We purchased 2 Coleman Camp Stove Toasters - available at Wal-Mart - Cost less than $3 each. Designed to hold bread and toast it on a camp stove. We will use them to hold the bacon wrapped chicken legs to cook them on the grill. It is important to have the chicken legs standing up and not have the meat directly on the grill

Ingredients
1/4 Cup Honey
2 Cups Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice
1/4 Cup Pineapple Juice
1 Package McCormick Backyard Brew Marinade
1/4 Cup Brown Sugar
2 Tablespoons Chili Powder
1/4 Cup Paprika
18 Chicken Legs
18 Pieces Sliced Bacon
String
2 Coleman Camp Stove Toasters

Remove all of the skin from the chicken legs. By using poultry scissors with a small paring knife, clean the lower part of the leg bone and remove the knuckle. Wash the chicken legs and pat dry with paper towels. This is the hardest part of the task. It took about an hour for one person to clean 18 chicken legs.

Mix 1 1/2 cups orange juice (reserve 1/2 cup for basting) with the honey, pineapple juice and McCormick Backyard Brew Marinade in bowl. Put the chicken legs in a large zip lock bag and pour the bowl of marinade into the bag. Seal the bag. Squeeze the bag lightly to get the marinade over all of the chicken legs. Put the bag of chicken legs into the refrigerator for at least an hour to cure.

Chicken Bacon Wrap Drumsticks In a small bowl mix the 1/2 cup orange juice, brown sugar, chili powder and paprika. This reserve solution will be used to baste the chicken legs while grilling.

About 30 minutes before the start of cooking the chicken legs, remove them from the refrigerator. Take a piece of bacon and wrap the bacon around the chicken leg. Affix the bacon to the chicken leg by using a toothpick. Pop up the stands on the Coleman Toaster. Using string, tie each of the chicken legs with the bone down and meat up to the metal toaster. Two legs will fit in each of the four side openings and one in the center. The bacon wrapped chicken drumsticks are now ready for the grill.

Cook the chicken legs for 30 - 45 minutes under medium heat rotating the Coleman Toaster every ten minutes. During the last 10 minutes of cooking, baste the chicken legs with the reserve solution. Once the bacon is cooked crisp, the chicken will be ready. Remove from grill and place on a platter for serving. Chicken Bacon Wrap Drumsticks
